Compromise and collaboration are more essential than ever. This does not mean you completely shift your core every time you talk with someone new or about something different.
Perhaps this is why we are having some challenges at the levels we are lately. People are thinking they need to say what others want to hear versus respectfully disagreeing or taking additional time to lay the groundwork for true collaboration.
We’ve all likely had a challenging conversation with someone where they make it really uncomfortable to be around them, much less be heard or try to connect. It becomes obvious to those of us paying attention that when you get with this type of personality, you simply cannot move forward with them – at least not right now. This is not giving up, it’s waiting for the right moment. This is an incredibly important distinction.

The teachable moment. Readiness to learn. Understanding the need for change and looking at things a new way. The desire to take action, and the desire to continue to move forward.
It’s knowing when the right time is to move forward, if the topic is time critical and requires some pushing the rock up hill to bring people along, or if you just need a different group of people. Depending on the topic, timing, and desired outcome, any mix of these could be your right way forward. What’s your next move?
