From a timing and thought perspective, what if you are one haircut away from better health?
It’s spring cleaning season! Instead of just swapping out wardrobes and cleaning house, this year, add your kitchen to the list! Whether losing winter pounds, training for a run, or just keeping up with the kids, changing the menu to healthier fare can help that summer wardrobe fit as well as it did last year while boosting energy. With a little creativity, the menu can go from winter weary to spring time cheery in no time!
Fruits and vegetables are needed every day for good health because they provide so many good things for the body, like vitamins, minerals, fiber, water – the list goes on and on. Due to the different tastes the choices from both of these groups provide, it’s easy to enjoy fruits and/or vegetables at any time of day, even for dessert!
According to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) analysis of 2005 data, just over 27% of the adult U.S. population ate veggies three (3) or more times a day, and under 33% ate fruit more than twice a day – so most are not meeting the recommendations for good health.* This means many people are not only missing out on the nutrition fruits and vegetables offer, but on loads of flavor as well!
